Mayoni & Elephant Interaction Safari
Meet the majestic Rambo and Rachel – habituated elephants who were rescued after their herd was culled. Experience the thrill and privilege of getting up close to these elephants and be educated about the plight of the mighty African Elephant. One of our passionate and knowledgeable rangers will talk you through Rambo and Rachel’s history and provide you with interesting facts about elephants. You will be given opportunity to feed Rambo and Rachel as well as touch Rambos ears, behind his tusks, between his legs and even get to feel his tongue! This experience, described as “Life Changing”, is sure to delight visitors. When the elephants are not greeting visitors, they are roaming freely within the Manyoni Game Reserve with their keepers by their side.
Mkuze Nature Reserve - Half or Full Day Game Drives
Day trips to the Big 5, Mkuze Game Reserve, which is part of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park World Heritage Site. These extensive wetlands host a large number of hippo and crocodile. Also, world renowned for its incredible variety of bird species, boasting over 420 species on their bird list. Mkuze Game Reserve also has several recently upgraded hides ideal for game viewing and bird watching. One can self-drive through the Reserve or book a guided tour.
Turtle Safaris – Sodwana Bay
This tour is more than just a precious sight. The Guides also strive to educate visitors and tour participants about the plight of the endangered walnut-hued leatherback turtle clocking in at 700 kg and the white- bellied loggerhead at a respectable 160 kg and their constant struggle for survival. From November to March evening beach drives can be arranged to see these turtles nest and hatch along the beautiful 16-km shore line. Being tide-dependent, departure times will vary.
Pisces Diving - Sodwana Bay
Do you want to go to the outlying and lesser-known reefs? Would you like to dive as long as your air supply allows without a specific dive time? If so, Pisces Diving is a great choice. You will be briefed and debriefed by the very knowledgeable team, wowed by all the small stuff underwater. The dive masters love taking their clients to five-, six-, seven- and nine-mile reefs. These reefs are further away and so not as busy as the two-mile reef and you get to explore that little piece of Africa without too much underwater traffic. While you are underwater, the Pisces team takes it slow allowing you take it all in, this relaxed style of diving ensures that your air supply lasts longer enabling longer dive times.
Zululand Cat Conservation Project – Emdoneni Lodge
During the tour to the cat project, visitors have the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of South Africa’s endangered cat species; Caracal, Serval, Cheetah and the African Wildcat. This once in a lifetime opportunity can be enjoyed whilst being educated on a tour and guests even have an opportunity to watch feeding times. The Project has been in operation since 1994. Since then the release program has successfully rehabilitated and released Servals, Caracals, African Wildcats and Cheetahs.
